Access and Egress

An adaptive reuse project converting the existing Building 71 into a three-storey student residence. New accommodation floors are added above the retained structure to create compact en-suite units arranged along protected central corridors.

The focus of the project was access and egress, designed in line with the Irish Building Regulations. Key moves include two protected stairways, designated refuge areas, a full sprinkler system, and widened routes for fire brigade access. The design also integrates universal accessibility throughout, following Part M.

The drawing set includes site and floor plans, detailed stair and residence plans, sections, and axonometrics.
