Detailing
A construction detailing study for a two-storey timber residence raised above a glazed ground floor. The project takes an architectural design and works out how it actually gets built through plans, sections, elevations, and a set of 1:5 details showing the structure, insulation, and waterproofing.
At its core is an exposed glulam timber truss joined with hidden steel plates and bolts, inspired by SOM's High Line–Moynihan bridge in New York. The same idea shaped the slim steel-bar balcony railing. The details cover a warm flat roof, an insulated timber-frame wall, and a triple-glazed sliding door, all specified with real products (Kingspan, Sika, Gyproc). U-value calculations confirm strong thermal performance for Dublin's climate.
